What it is
GB WhatsApp, in plain words
GB WhatsApp is the regular WhatsApp you already use, rebuilt by independent developers with the settings Meta never gave us.
Same chats, same groups, same voice notes. The difference is a long menu called GB Settings where you can hide your online status, stop blue ticks, keep messages that people delete, send full-quality photos and run a second number next to your normal WhatsApp. That is the whole reason it has been one of the most searched apps in Pakistan for years. People don't want a new messenger, they want more control over the one their family group is already on.
It is not on the Play Store, so you install it as an APK. That part puts some people off, and it should make you careful: half the "GB WhatsApp download" pages online push old builds or files stuffed with ads. This page keeps one current file, the exact version number, and a changelog, and we update all three the same day a new build lands.

And GB WhatsApp Pro, FM WhatsApp, YoWhatsApp?
They come from the same family of mods and share most of the code. FM WhatsApp leans on extra themes and emoji packs, YoWhatsApp on an iOS-style look, and "GB WhatsApp Pro" is mostly a different icon. If all you want is hide online, anti-delete and a second number, plain GB WhatsApp does it and gets updated most often.
Install
How to download and install GB WhatsApp APK
Takes about two minutes on a normal 4G connection. You need around 200 MB free space for the app and its first backup.
- Tap the download button at the top of this page. The APK (127 MB) saves to your Downloads folder.
- Open the file from the notification or from Files › Downloads.
- Allow the install. Android will say it can't install apps from this source. Tap Settings, switch on "Allow from this source", and go back.
- Tap Install, then Open. If Play Protect warns you, tap "More details" and then "Install anyway".
- Log in. Agree to the terms, then either verify your number or link to your official WhatsApp (see the login section below).
- Restore or start fresh. If you have a GB backup it is offered here. Then add your name and photo, and you are in.
Phone-specific hiccups we see the most
Samsung (One UI 6 and newer)Auto Blocker stops every APK. Turn it off in Settings › Security and privacy › Auto Blocker, install, then switch it back on.
Redmi, Xiaomi, POCOHyperOS runs its own security scan and may show a scary warning. Tap "Continue" or "Install anyway"; the scan can take ten seconds.
Infinix and TecnoPhone Master sometimes flags the file. Open it from the Files app rather than from Chrome's download bar.
Vivo and OppoYou may have to type your phone password or vivo account password before an outside APK is allowed.
Tip: after installing, turn "Allow from this source" off again for Chrome. You only need it on for the minute you are installing.
Login fix
"You need the official WhatsApp to log in": the fix
This is the error everyone in Pakistan has been searching since WhatsApp tightened its checks. Your number is fine. WhatsApp simply no longer lets most mods do the normal SMS sign-up. New GB builds solve it by signing in as a linked device, the same way WhatsApp Web works.
- Install the official WhatsApp from Play Store and register your number there as usual.
- Install GB WhatsApp v18.80 from this page and open it.
- Pick "Link as companion device" (some builds call it "Link to existing account"). GB shows a QR code or a pairing option.
- In official WhatsApp go to ⋮ › Linked devices › Link a device and scan the code, or use "Link with phone number instead" and enter the code GB shows.
- Wait for the sync. Recent chats appear in GB within a minute. Keep official WhatsApp installed; GB works through it.
If both apps are on the same phone you cannot scan your own screen. Use the phone-number pairing code if your build offers it, or keep the official WhatsApp on an old phone and link GB on your main one.
Update
How to update GB WhatsApp to the latest version
GB WhatsApp has no auto-update from Play Store, so when a build expires or a login problem starts, the fix is almost always a manual update. Your chats survive as long as you install over the old app.
- Open GB WhatsApp, go to ⋮ › Settings › Chats › Chat backup and tap Back up. Wait for it to finish.
- Come back to this page and download GB WhatsApp v18.80.
- Open the APK and tap Update. Do not uninstall the old version first.
- Open the app. Your chats, groups and media should all be there.
Moving to a new phone
Back up on the old phone, then copy the whole GBWhatsApp folder (under Android › media › com.gbwhatsapp on most phones) to your
PC or straight to the new phone. Install GB on the new phone, but don't open it yet. Paste the folder back into the same place, then open the app and
tap Restore.
From normal WhatsApp to GB WhatsApp (and back)
If you log in as a linked device, your recent chats sync over by themselves. For full history on builds that still use SMS login, take a local backup
in WhatsApp, rename the WhatsApp folder to GBWhatsApp, and restore inside GB. Going back works the other way round: back up
in GB, rename the folder to WhatsApp, install the official app and restore. Google Drive backups do not carry over to GB.

- It is unofficial. WhatsApp does not support it and can restrict accounts that use it. Temporary bans happen; permanent ones are rarer but real.
- Fake copies are the bigger danger. Some "GB WhatsApp 2026" files on random sites are years old or bundled with adware. Check the size and package name before installing.
- Messages still travel through WhatsApp's servers, so your chats with contacts are as private as they would be anyway. The mod itself is closed code though, and nobody outside the developer audits it.
- Never share your six-digit code. Most stolen WhatsApp numbers in Pakistan come from someone asking "galti se code chala gaya, bhej do", not from any app.
Our advice: use GB for your second number or for a number you can afford to lose for a day, keep a fresh backup, and update when this page shows a new version.
GB WhatsApp for iPhone, PC and Jio phone
There is no GB WhatsApp for iPhone, and pages claiming otherwise are after your clicks or your Apple ID. On a PC you can run the APK inside an Android emulator like BlueStacks, but WhatsApp Web is simpler. KaiOS phones like the Jio phone can't run it either.

GB WhatsApp questions people ask us
01 Is GP WhatsApp the same thing as GB WhatsApp?
Yes. "GP WhatsApp", "GB WA", "WA GB" and "GBWhatsApp" are all the same app. GP is just how a lot of people in Pakistan and India type it (B and P sit close together and sound close in Urdu too). There is no separate GP WhatsApp app, so if a site offers you one, it is the same GB WhatsApp APK with a different name on the page.
02 What is the latest version of GB WhatsApp right now?
The newest build is GB WhatsApp v18.80, 127 MB, updated on 28 Oct 2026. We change the version, the file and the changelog on this page the same day a new build is out, so the number at the top of the page is always the current one.
03 Is GB WhatsApp safe to use?
It is a modified app, not something Meta makes or checks, so it can never be as safe as the official WhatsApp. The real danger is not the mod itself but fake copies that carry adware or worse. Download from one place you trust, check the package name is com.gbwhatsapp, and never type a WhatsApp code that someone sends you on another chat. Don't use it for banking OTPs or anything you would hate to lose.
04 Can my number get banned for using GB WhatsApp?
Yes, it can happen. WhatsApp's terms do not allow modded apps and it has handed out temporary bans to mod users before. The anti-ban code in new builds lowers the chance but nobody can promise zero risk. If you see "Temporarily banned", stop, wait for the timer to finish, back up your chats, and then decide whether to update GB or move back to the official app.
05 Why does it say "You need the official WhatsApp to log in"?
WhatsApp now blocks many modded apps from registering a number directly. Recent GB builds get around it by logging in as a linked (companion) device of your official WhatsApp account. Register your number in the official app first, then link GB WhatsApp to it. The full steps are in the login section above.
06 How do I update GB WhatsApp without losing my chats?
Take a local backup first (GB settings, then Chats, then Back up chats). Then download the new APK from this page and install it over the old app. Don't uninstall the old one. Android keeps your data because the package name is the same, and your chats, media and settings stay where they were.
07 Can I run GB WhatsApp and normal WhatsApp on the same phone?
Yes. GB WhatsApp installs as a separate app (com.gbwhatsapp) so it sits next to the official WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business. A lot of people keep their main number in the official app and a second number in GB.
08 Is there GB WhatsApp for iPhone?
No. iPhones cannot install APK files and there is no real GB WhatsApp for iOS. Any site asking you to install a "GB WhatsApp iOS" profile or pay for an IPA is not giving you the real thing. On iPhone, stick with the official WhatsApp.
09 Can I use GB WhatsApp on a PC or laptop?
Only through an Android emulator such as BlueStacks or LDPlayer, and it runs heavy on older laptops. If you just want to chat from your computer, WhatsApp Web or the desktop app linked to your phone is faster and easier.
10 What is the difference between GB WhatsApp and GB WhatsApp Pro?
Very little in 2026. GB WhatsApp Pro is a name some uploaders use for the same base mod with a different icon or a couple of extra themes. Features, risks and the update process are the same. Pick one and keep updating that one, because switching between them means a fresh install.
11 Why does GB WhatsApp say "This version has expired"?
Mod builds carry an expiry date so people move to newer, safer code. When you see that message, back up your chats and install the latest version from this page over the top. Changing your phone's date to cheat the expiry usually breaks message sending, so don't bother.
12 Where does GB WhatsApp save its backup on my phone?
On newer Android versions it is usually Internal storage › Android › media › com.gbwhatsapp › GBWhatsApp › Databases. Older builds used a GBWhatsApp folder right in internal storage. GB does not back up to Google Drive, so copy that folder to your PC or a USB before you reset or change phones.
